The Prep

Why is prep so important? It all has to do with your skins cell cycle.

Yes, your skin has a turn over rate and life cycle the cells go through. It starts at the bottom layer until eventually the cell makes its way to the top and die off. These dead skin cells sit on the top layer of skin. When the dead skin cells are sprayed with DHA, they will eventually slough off…leaving patches and an uneven look. NOT prioritizing exfoliation before your appointment is a top contributor for an ill sitting spray tan. Exfoliating the top layer of skin ensures all the dead skin cells are removed and newer skin is readily ready for a nice even glow!

Try our Sugar Scrub or exfoliating body wash to help prep the skin for your tan.

The Post

Now that we know about the importance of exfoliation and our cells life cycle, it’s also important after your spray tan too. Keeping the skin hydrated is crucial to a longer lasting and even spray tan. Like mentioned above, as your cells rise to the surface, they will die and dry out. Hydrating the skin will avoid any unnecessary dry skin and flaking. Drink plenty of water and try to avoid exfoliation like loofas, shaving, access rubbing (dab with a towel, don’t rub). When it’s time for your next tan, prep like you would before! Exfoliate and hydrate!
